Terms of Use for SpendLane

These Terms of Use govern your use of the SpendLane mobile app, published by an independent developer in India.
By downloading, accessing or using SpendLane, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree with them, please do not use the app.
1. What SpendLane is
SpendLane is a personal budgeting and expense tracking tool for recording and reviewing your own financial information, including transactions, budgets, goals, debts, assets and related records.
The app is designed to work offline and keeps your financial records on your device.
SpendLane does not connect directly to your bank accounts or automatically import banking information. Information in the app comes from data you enter, files you deliberately import, or calculations and rules based on information you have provided.
SpendLane is a tool for organizing your information. It does not manage your money or make financial decisions for you.
2. SpendLane is not financial advice
SpendLane is a record-keeping and calculation tool. It is not financial, investment, tax, accounting or legal advice.
The information produced by the app is intended to help you understand and organize your own financial information. You are responsible for deciding whether and how to act on it.
Estimates and forecasts
Forecasts, projections and figures such as “safe to spend” are estimates based on the information you provide and the calculations used by the app. They are not predictions, guarantees or recommendations.
When SpendLane describes something as being based on your current pace, for example, it means the result is based on your existing data and assumptions. Your actual future financial situation may be different.
Insights and suggestions
Insights, anomaly indicators, suggested categories and similar features may be incorrect or incomplete.
They are generated from information available within the app and are provided as suggestions rather than professional advice.
Financial calculations
Interest, EMI, yield, maturity and similar calculations use standard formulas and the information you provide.
They are intended as estimates or illustrations. If the figures differ from those provided by your bank, lender, financial institution or other provider, the figures provided by that institution should be treated as authoritative.
Exchange rates
Exchange rates displayed in SpendLane are based on published reference rates obtained through an external exchange-rate service.
Reference rates may differ from the rate offered by your bank, card provider, payment provider, exchange service or other financial institution.
Your decisions
Any financial, investment, tax, legal or other decision you make based on information shown in SpendLane is your responsibility.
For advice relating to your particular circumstances, consult an appropriately qualified professional.
3. Your data and backups
Your financial records belong to you.
SpendLane is designed to keep those records on your device rather than storing them on SpendLane servers.
This also means that you are responsible for keeping your own backups.
If your device is lost, damaged, reset, replaced, or the app is deleted, SpendLane may not be able to recover your records because we do not maintain a server-side copy of them.
SpendLane provides backup and export tools under Settings → Data & Backup, including full backups, CSV exports and Excel exports. These tools are available on the free plan as well.
We strongly recommend keeping regular backups of your financial records. SpendLane cannot recover records that are lost from your device when no backup is available.
You are responsible for deciding when to create backups and where to keep them.
4. Free plan and Premium
SpendLane includes a free plan with limits on certain features or the number of items you can create.
The current limits are shown in Settings → Plan & Usage.
Premium removes applicable plan limits and provides access to additional features described in the app.
Plan limits may change over time.
Reaching a plan limit does not delete or hide information you have already created. It generally prevents you from creating additional items of the affected type until the applicable limit becomes available again or you upgrade to Premium.
Premium purchases
Premium may be offered as:
- An auto-renewing monthly subscription
- An auto-renewing yearly subscription
- A one-time lifetime purchase
The options and prices available to you are shown in the applicable app store and in SpendLane before you purchase.
Payments are processed by the Apple App Store or Google Play. SpendLane does not receive or store your payment card details.
Subscriptions and renewal
Unless you cancel, an auto-renewing subscription renews automatically according to the terms shown by Apple or Google when you purchase it.
The applicable store charges the payment method associated with your store account.
You can cancel an active subscription through your Apple Account or Google Play account settings. Cancelling a subscription normally stops future renewals but does not remove Premium access for the period you have already paid for.
When the paid period ends, the app returns to the applicable free-plan limits. Information you have already created is not deleted solely because your Premium access ends.
Free trials and introductory offers
Where available, free trials or introductory offers are provided and managed by Apple or Google.
The applicable store will show the terms, duration and price before you accept the offer.
If you do not want a trial or introductory subscription to convert into a paid subscription, cancel it according to the store's instructions before the applicable period ends.
Refunds and cancellations
Apple and Google generally handle payments, refunds and subscription management for purchases made through their stores.
If you need a refund, cancellation or help with a store transaction, use the support and account-management options provided by the relevant store.
SpendLane does not have access to your payment card or store billing information.
Restoring purchases
Premium purchases are associated with your Apple Account or Google Play account rather than a particular device.
When supported, you can use Restore Purchases within SpendLane after reinstalling the app or moving to another compatible device.
Price changes
Subscription prices may change from time to time.
Where required, Apple or Google will provide notice of subscription price changes and any opportunity to accept the new price or cancel the subscription.
5. Acceptable use
You may use SpendLane for lawful personal purposes.
You must not:
- Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or tamper with the app, except where applicable law expressly permits it.
- Attempt to bypass plan limits, access Premium features without authorization, or interfere with the app's licensing or purchase mechanisms.
- Copy, redistribute, resell, sublicense or commercially exploit the app without permission.
- Use SpendLane in connection with unlawful activity.
- Interfere with the security, operation or integrity of the app.
Nothing in this section limits rights that cannot legally be restricted under applicable law.
6. Your licence to use SpendLane
Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use SpendLane on devices that you own or control.
This licence is for your personal use and does not transfer ownership of the app or its intellectual property to you.
SpendLane, including its software, name, branding, interface, design and other original content, remains the property of the developer or its respective rights holders.
Your financial records remain yours. Your use of SpendLane does not give the developer ownership of the information you create or store in the app.
7. Updates and availability
SpendLane may be updated from time to time to improve performance, fix problems, introduce new features, modify existing features or address security and compatibility requirements.
Features may be added, changed or removed.
The developer may also stop supporting or distributing SpendLane at some point in the future.
Because SpendLane is designed to work offline, an installed version may continue to function after updates or distribution stop, although compatibility with future operating-system versions cannot be guaranteed.
8. Changes to these Terms
These Terms may be updated from time to time to reflect changes to SpendLane, its features, pricing or legal requirements.
When a significant change is made, the updated date at the top of these Terms will be changed and, where appropriate, the change may also be communicated through the app or release notes.
Your continued use of SpendLane after updated Terms take effect means that you accept the updated Terms.
If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you should stop using the app.
9. Disclaimer of warranties
To the extent permitted by applicable law, SpendLane is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties or guarantees of any kind, whether express or implied.
This includes, where legally permitted, implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement.
The developer does not guarantee that:
- SpendLane will always be available or uninterrupted;
- the app will always be free from errors or defects;
- calculations, forecasts, estimates or suggestions will always be accurate;
- the app will meet every particular requirement or expectation;
- your records will never be lost or corrupted.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits consumer rights or other protections that cannot legally be excluded or limited in your jurisdiction.
10. Limitation of liability
SpendLane is provided to help you manage and understand your personal financial information, but it may occasionally contain errors, interruptions or unexpected behavior.
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the developer will not be responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of SpendLane.
This may include loss of data, savings, profits or other losses resulting from your use of the app or reliance on information it provides.
Nothing in these Terms limits any liability or consumer rights that cannot legally be excluded or limited under applicable law.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India, subject to any mandatory rights or protections that apply to you under the laws of your place of residence.
Subject to those mandatory rights, disputes relating to these Terms or SpendLane will be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts in India.
Nothing in this section is intended to prevent you from exercising consumer or legal rights that cannot lawfully be restricted by an agreement.

For technical issues, it is helpful to include your SpendLane version, device model, operating system version and a description of what happened. Please avoid including financial information unless it is necessary to explain the issue.
For payment, refund or subscription issues, the relevant Apple or Google support channels may be able to assist because those transactions are processed through their respective stores.
